MailWasher Standard Review
Mailwasher Standard is a Windows application which allows you to preview and filter your email before ever downloading it to your PC. Mailwasher itself is the free version of the superior (far more features) Mailwasher Pro. As such Mailwasher offers some of the best spam filtering capabilities I've ever seen - including from some high priced, brand name programs.

Installation
Mailwasher (or Mailwasher Pro) has never had any difficulty in installing or uninstalling.
Stability
Mailwasher has proven itself to be a stable application from day one of usage. I can say, hand-on-heart, that I've never had to give it the three fingered salute (CTRL + ALT + DEL) once in the years I've used it.
Ease of use
The free version of Mailwasher is limited to one e-mail account and does not support Hotmail or AOL so we're dealing with the same basic product as Mailwasher Pro just minus some of the fancier features such as support for multiple accounts. Mailwasher features an intuitive and straightforward interface that makes using the program very straightforward as is illustrated here:
Check Mail, Stop, Process Mail and Mail Program - short sweet and to the point. The simple and practical interface is just one of the many strong points of the Mailwasher range of spam filters.
How It Works
Mailwasher is independant of your email program, so it doesn't matter which program you use, as long as it uses the POP3 protocol. It works by connecting to your email server and displays all messages waiting for you. Using the check boxes, you then select an action whether to delete or bounce the undesired messages and click on process mail. Once processing completes, your email program will automatically launch and you can download the remaining messages as normal.
Customer Support
As usual there's great support from the parent website with some excellent product tutorials in both HTML and Flash. I've only ever had to contact Mailwasher support for assistance once and the reply was prompt, courteous and helpful. They genuinely do seem to care about their customers - I was left with the feel good factor anyway :-)
Supported Platforms
Only POP3 email accounts are supported, including the paid Yahoo Plus.
Works independantly of email programs, so all clients are supported, including Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, Netscape, etc.
Does not support Hotmail, MSN, AOL or IMAP. For that, try MailWasher Pro

Conclusion: Thumbs up to this great software and recommended as an entry level spam filter solution.
